Offices are the hubs of activity during the week, as people bustle around while working on their business. As an area of high foot traffic, business offices can get particularly dusty, which is why regular cleaning is needed to maintain the pristine condition of the workplace. However, we sometimes tend to forget a few things when it comes to cleaning such a large area.

Daily Cleaning Checklist

Reception Area and Lobby

  • Dust off horizontal surfaces, including filing cabinets, chairs, and other fixtures
  • Wipe reception table surface with a damp cloth
  • Wipe telephone with sanitizing solution
  • Wipe doors, doorknobs, and door frame with an all-purpose cleaner to remove fingerprints and grime
  • Dust off sofas and chairs, if necessary
  • Sanitize area with disinfecting solution.
  • Spray disinfectant around sofas and chairs
  • Mop the hard surface floor with disinfecting solution
  • Wipe tables and other horizontal surfaces with disinfecting solution
  • Spray disinfecting solution on doorknobs, handles, light switches, and other high-contact surfaces

Meeting and Conference Rooms

  • Place chairs in proper position
  • Close the air conditioner when not in use
  • Wipe clean whiteboard
  • Give the area an inspection and dispose of trash and debris left behind
  • Unplug all electronics and organize cables together
  • Wipe down flat surfaces, including desks, chairs, cabinets, and other fixtures
  • Dust off electronics like projectors and screens
  • Wipe tablet and computer screens with a dry cloth to remove fingerprints and grime
  • Empty all trash receptacles and replace liners when necessary
  • Sanitize meeting and conference area.
  • Wipe flat surfaces with disinfecting solution on a clean cloth
  • Spray device-safe disinfectant on high-contact surfaces, like light switches, projector remote, device screens, and doorknob
  • Spray fabric-safe disinfectant on chairs, seats, and curtains

Floors and Windows

  • Spray glass cleaner on the interior of the windows
  • Wipe windows dry with a clean cloth
  • Place wet floor sign when cleaning floors
  • Sweep hard surface floors
  • Vacuum carpeted flooring
  • Mop hard surface floors with disinfecting solution

Breakroom

  • Pick up and dispose of debris, empty containers, and leftover food in the proper trash bin
  • Spot clean food and drink spillage on walls
  • Mop floors with disinfectant solution
  • Wipe away any spillage with a tissue or paper towel
  • Wash any dishes left in the sink, or place them in the dishwasher
  • Let the garbage disposal run to dislodge accumulated food waste
  • Scrub sink and rinse with tap water
  • Wipe faucet and surrounding countertops dry
  • Use a clean cloth to wipe a mild disinfecting cleaning solution on tables, chairs, and countertops
  • Remove leftover coffee and filter from coffee maker, and wash removable parts
  • Wipe appliances with a mild cleaning solution, or just water.
  • Replace paper towels and napkins in low supply
  • Replace dishwashing liquid in low supply
  • Dispose of garbage in proper receptacles

Restrooms

  • Clean toilets and urinals using scrub brush and disinfecting toilet cleaner
  • Wipe flush handle and toilet seat clean with a skin-safe cleaning solution
  • Scour and sanitize sinks
  • Wipe faucet dry
  • Dust partitions, air vents, and cabinets
  • Wipe disinfectant on countertops
  • Clean and polish mirrors
  • Spray disinfectant on light switches, doorknob, and other high-contact surfaces
  • Mop floors with disinfectant solution
  • Dispose of garbage in trash receptacles to main garbage collection point
  • Replace toilet paper and hand soap in low supply
  • Replace paper towels in low supply

Weekly Cleaning Checklist

Reception Area and Lobby

  • Vacuum floors in and around the area, including under the sofa, chairs, and other furniture
  • Wipe clean the reception desk front
  • Dust off company logo

Meeting and Conference Rooms

  • Dust high areas and hard-to-reach areas like on top of cabinets and shelves
  • Thoroughly clean floors using vacuum cleaner, making sure to get into every corner, and under heavy furniture
  • Spot clean stains on carpet, marble, or laminate floors

Monthly Checklist

Reception Area and Lobby

  • Replace sofa cover and curtains, if necessary
  • Wipe clean decorative pieces and plants
  • Move heavy furniture, and mop the floors underneath
  • Clean air conditioner filter
  • If possible, use a wet and dry vacuum to deep clean the carpeted floors by scrubbing the carpet with soapy water, and using the wet vacuum to suck up the moisture

Meeting and Conference Rooms

  • Dust hard-to-reach areas such as lighting, air conditioner surface, and high cabinets
  • Remove, wash, and dry air conditioner filter
  • Wipe down cables and cords
  • Organize cables and cords alongside their respective devices
  • Wipe clean projector, projector screen, and accessories
  • Wipe the whiteboard clean of any residual marker stains using rubbing alcohol
  • If possible, use a wet and dry vacuum to deep clean the carpeted floors by scrubbing the carpet with soapy water, and using the wet vacuum to suck up the moisture

Breakroom

  • Descale coffee maker with vinegar and baking soda, or food-safe descaler
  • Descale water cooler dispenser
  • Remove items from refrigerator and wipe clean all refrigerator parts
  • Shake out burnt bits from toaster
  • Remove items from cupboards and wipe the shelves clean
  • Wipe clean beneath the tables and chairs
  • Remove any accumulated grime from underneath surfaces
  • Mop under heavy appliances, such as the water cooler and refrigerator, with a disinfecting solution
  • Check for and dispose of expired food items
